LA arrival and photos

We arrived in Los Angeles at 6:25am this morning however the USa doesn't open its doors will 6:30am on the dot so a little waiting at the gate was in order. The flight was long 13 hours in total from Sydney but the students coped very well with it indeed. There were a few sneaky photos taken of sleeping teachers however I have a feeling there are some sleeping student photos that might appear if the teachers snoozing pics ever saw the light of day.

Los Angeles is as busy as ever and for some of the students this was a new environment that took some adjusting. We dropped our bags off at the hostel and headed for hollywood on the public transport. The bus ride took an hour and a few people used it as a chance to catch up on some much needed sleep!

Chris was not the only one to nod off but we did manage to get off at the right stop. Chris Fensom has asked that we keep making sure he is in photos so Mum and Dad know he hasnt been lost along the way - not sure if this was the kind of photo he had in mind.

We walked our way from Santa Monica Boulevard up to Hollywood Boulevard and caught our first fleeting glimpse of the hollywood sign.

The students and teachers were amazed at the street sellers in and around the Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Lots of people dressed as famous actors or characters seemingly offering a pose for a photo then wanting to be paid. A quick education in the etiquette of moving through a crowded street made life a lot easier. The students all had wide eyed expressions and were constantly stopping to snap the walk of fame stars of one of their favorite stars. After a couple of hours in Hollywood we made the bus trip back - just as a side note I do believe between them the students are aiming to try each and every new junk food they can!

This evening has been spent on the Santa Monica pier where students have been playing arcade games and having a very 1950's burger and fries meal at Pier Burgers - all that was missing was John Travolta and a Grease Lighting track. Apologies for the quality of this photo we will get some more and better photos up on the blog once we are at Space Camp.

The students all took the chance to ride the roller coaster on Santa Monica Pier.

For now it is a good night from us here in Santa Monica - We are up at 6am tomorrow and off on the next two legs of our trip - first to Dallas/For Worth then onto Huntsville for the start of Space Camp!

Good night from the team here in LA!
